Almost Traditional Easter pisanki workshop
Get into the Easter spirit and join us for a special, almost traditional, egg decorating workshop. We'll provide everything you need to decorate eggshells using traditional Polish and Ukrainian molten wax techniques, and also give you a delicious brunch. Bring a box to take your pisanki home in!
‘Pisanki’, or Polish or Ukrainian ‘Easter eggs’ are traditionally decorated during Lent with motifs reflecting themes of rebirth, fertility, beauty, protection and vitality. In many parts of Poland, pisanki decorating is a women only event (if a man entered the room by accident, he’d be rushed out and the room would need to be purified with salt).
Our workshop won't be completely traditional as it will be led by Marcin Misiewicz, a native Canadian who, together with his brothers, learnt the art from Edmonton’s Ukrainian community. Ask him how they have managed to turn it into a competitive event though...

Perfect place for a perfect meal! Ewa is a wonderful host and her cuisine is like a tip-top product with a special (magical?) ingredient inside. Also cooking together makes me an excellent experience. Ewa is a diplomatic master chef and it's not only meals preparation. It is a lesson how to NOT bake too long, NOT flavor too strong and NOT cook to hard. We have a proper word in Polish for that - Ewa knows how to "nie przedobrzyć" :)
