Our cooking class will start with a welcome drink (tea and coffee) in the kitchen, followed by putting on aprons (which I provide) and washing our hands

I will then give a very brief introduction to the history of Polish cuisine in general and the pierogi in particular. Then, together we’ll prepare the dough and the filling together, learning the secrets of making that special flavour. Once ready with these, we’ll fill the dough parcels with the filling and make the pierogi. Each participant will have their own board to prepare these dumplings, and I am on hand to assist at every stage.

Once prepared, we’ll start cooking the pierogi and… start eating them! There will be plenty to go around, and no-one will be left hungry. Finally, we’ll share some of my home-made cheesecake with salty caramel sauce, together with fresh coffee or tea.

My address is ul. Anczyca 11 / 5 (ie building number 11, apartment 5 on Anczyca Street) I’m very much looking forward to hosting you. It is very easy to get to, being about 10 minutes by taxi or 15 minutes by tram from Rynek Glowny, if you take a tram, choose number 1, 2 or 6 heading to SALWATOR and take the stop after that (it is the final stop where the trams turn around after the Salwator Pętla stop). It is then a pleasant 4-minute walk up the hill to the apartment. Here's a link to a map:

If you have any trouble at all finding my place, please call on +48 661 921 707. When you get to the building, please just ring number 5 and I will open the gate so you can come in and up to the top floor.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring anything with me to the workshop? +

No need. Everything is provided, from aprons to ingredients and tools. Just bring yourself!

Do I need to be an experienced cook to enjoy the class? +

Not at all. The workshop is perfect for beginners, but will also be useful for more experienced cooks looking to improve their pierogi-making skills.

Can children join the class? +

The class is definitely suitable for children of all ages who are interested in learning to cook and discover something new.

What should I do if I have a food allergy or intolerance? +

If you have a serious allergy, this may not be for you, as the workshop is conducted in my home kitchen, where traces of many ingredients can be found. But if you just have an intolerance, please let me know when you book and I will take care to avoid those particular ingredients.

What about vegans and vegetarians? +

No problem at all. The most popular Polish pierogies are made without meat and include potatoes, mushrooms and so on. When booking, please make a note of this and I will be sure to prepare everything for you.

Can I get a refund if I cancel? +

Of course. If you cancel more than 3 days before the class, you will receive a full refund. However, if you cancel at short notice, you may not receive the full amount. Please see the policy at https://eataway.com/terms-conditions

How will I find the location of the class? +

The exact address will be given to you once you book. My home is in the Salwator district of Krakow, an easy 12 minute taxi or tram ride from the Old Town, or if the weather is good, it is a pleasant 25 minute walk.

Can I book a private class instead? +

Sure. Private classes can be booked here - https://eataway.com/events/453583014-pierogi-power-workshop-private-event

How long does the class last? +

Approximately 2 and a half hours.

Will there be food to eat during the class? +

Yes. Apart from the pierogies, you will receive a full meal, normally including a starter and dessert, all prepared according to the season and what I can find fresh at our local market. Also, soft drinks such as water, compote, tea or coffee are provided. You won't leave hungry for sure!

For the last 12 years, I have been teaching people how to cook delicious food at my home, and I also run food workshops such as the Pierogi Power Workshop, Fermentation Workshop and more. Recently I was the host of a big food event for The Krakow Pierogi Festival and Harvest Festival. (I also appear regularly on TV and radio as a guest, discussing subjects related to home cooking, the sharing economy and food tech.) I’ve always enjoyed sharing my knowledge of my beautiful hometown, and more about the art of Polish cuisine, both through the website and with all the wonderful travellers I meet in person. My grandmother and my mother were great cooks. That means delicious, home-made food freshly-prepared.Restaurants are great, but sometimes it seems it would be better to enjoy a home-cooked meal with someone who can also tell me a bit more about their experiences, their lives and their cities. So, I’ve decided to do exactly that. I cook for up to 14 people at my home in Krakow and you’re invited. Please join me!

After making the dumplings, we were also served everything from appetizers to dessert, and everything was delicious. If you’re visiting Kraków, I would definitely recommend this as a great experience to try!

Marta's class was great! She has a wonderful kitchen and was very welcoming. We learned a lot about the polish culture as well as how to make three different pierogis. It's a very hands on class and you'll learn a lot.

The class is very well organized, in a beautiful kitchen surrounded by art. This is a very pleasant brunch activity (you leave well fed, and the pierogis are delicious!) and you can then go for an after-lunch walk through a forested park up the hill to get a beautiful view of the city.

Beautiful home, amazing pierogis, loved the hands on experience. You make all the dough and shape it! And Marta had great recommendations of how to get around the city and where to go.
