Private pierogi classes will take place in the cosy interior of my house.
We will chat about Kraków stories and tales while folding pierogi. Pierogi is the best-known Polish dish, and you can find it in almost every Polish restaurant around the city. But I believe that the ones made at home are the best ones. With all sorts of fillings, melted butter, and caramelised onion topping, they will just melt in your mouth.
We will learn how to make: uszka, the Christmas version of pierogi; they are folded a bit differently and stuffed with mushrooms. We will enjoy them with a Polish speciality: fermented red beet soup - barszcz. For the main dish, we will make my favourite pierogi ruskie with the addition of smoked cheese, caramelised onion, and melted butter on top. To make this meal wholesome, you will try a typical Polish dessert, which is cake!
No - this is built for first-timers. If you've never made dough in your life, you'll still leave with proper pierogi. Cooks who already know their way around a kitchen pick up a few traditional Polish moves that aren't in any cookbook.
Yes - if you let me know when you book I'll prep the vegan filling (tofu and a splash of sauerkraut brine in place of the curd cheese). The dough, soup, sides and dessert can all run dairy-free too. Same flavours, plant-based.

Cooking has always been in my house something more than just food. The heart of the house has always been the kitchen, in which we would sit with my beloved to share food, stories, everyday problems, and happiness. A home without the smell of tasty pie, hot soup, and a welcoming smile just isn't a real one.I would like to introduce you to Polish cuisine, which, I believe, is still not well-discovered. The second great passion that I would like to share with you is Polish art and culture, and my knowledge about my hometown, Kraków. I will share some stories and tips about the city if you like. I will be happy to welcome you to my house.

Hanna was a bit concerned that people might be put off because their home is slightly out of the city centre. I would say absolutely don't be put off, it was an easy 10-15 minute taxi ride, and in the summer you could easily cycle on the riverside path direction to their house. Anyway, the evening and the food is worth a few minutes in a cab.
Highly recommended!

From a guest in the group: The atmosphere was very family-like. Ms. Hanna engaged the entire group in making pierogi. Everyone participated with great enthusiasm. The workshop was held in a wonderful atmosphere, with conversations and anecdotes from the childhoods of both the group and Hanna. Interesting stories about the culinary history of Poland and Krakow were also shared. The closing feast took place in the kitchen where the workshop was held. The tableware was very interesting, and the pierogi dishes were delicious! After all, after such a good lesson, everything had to be delicious, and we were diligent students. And one more thing – the borscht! The red (beetroot) borscht that Ms. Hania served was delicious! Therefore, the culinary workshops led by Ms. Hanna were a hit and I recommend them to everyone!
